Mentoring Webinar for Researchers with Special Tips on Mentoring During COVID

In this webinar, Dr. Ruth Gotian guided participants through a crash course in mentoring with tips for both mentors and mentees. Learn how a mentor can optimize your success and who should be on your mentoring team. There are special tips unique for mentoring during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Gotian is Assistant Dean of Mentoring and Executive Director of the Mentoring Academy at Weill Cornell Medicine, Chief Learning Officer and Assistant Professor of Education in Anesthesiology. She has been hailed by the journal Nature and Columbia University as an expert in mentoring and leadership development. During her extensive career, she has personally mentored thousands of people ranging from undergraduates to faculty members. She now oversees the success of nearly 1,800 faculty members at Weill Cornell Medicine. She researches the most successful people of our generation, with a specific focus on physicians, scientists and physician-scientists, in order to learn about their habits and practices so that we may optimize success.

Dr. Gotian publishes in both medical education and adult learning journals on topics ranging from networking, mentoring, leadership development and optimizing success and has given talks on the topic all over the globe. She regularly publishes in such journals as Nature, Scientific American and Academic Medicine. She is the co-editor of a book on medical education, won numerous mentoring awards and is currently working on a book on the 35 best places to find a mentor.
