Write to Thrive: Reflective and Creative Writing Practices to Promote Clinician Well-Being

June 9, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT

In this 4-part series – for clinicians looking to connect with colleagues and renew their sense of purpose – you will be invited to engage and reflect creatively through writing. The sessions will be engaging, nourishing and evidence-based. Facilitated by writers Lucy Flood and Matt Daly, participants will actively take part in 4 live Zoom sessions that will be 60-90 minutes in length. Each week, the community will engage in reflection and writing in the first hour with an optional 30 minutes reserved for additional discussion and sharing. No prior writing experience is needed; you need only an open mind and curiosity to explore the practice.

This course is limited to 20 participants, and we ask that you commit to attending all sessions with video on except in case of urgent, unexpected conflicts. Each participant will be given a guided journal created by Lucy and Matt to use during the course which contains additional writing prompts and space for ongoing reflection.

Prior physician participants have commented:
“Matt and Lucy were amazing facilitators, and getting a chance to write and to share writing was an amazing way to connect with colleagues.”
“It was magical to have one hour out of a hectic day to be with people that inspire me and with the time to be with myself as well as community.”
“I found the sessions to be an oasis in the middle of a busy day. The time flew by yet felt spacious and I felt I could breathe.”

Facilitators: Lucy Flood and Matt Daly are the creators of Write to Thrive, a reflective and creative writing-based enterprise. Lucy and Matt are published authors who have been writing partners, coaches and friends for more than a decade. While teaching and coaching others, in their own writing partnerships they discovered that guided reflection and creation helped each of them live and work more fully. They have developed Write to Thrive in order to share the work that they know, from both research into expressive writing practices as well as their first-hand experience, can help you feel better equipped to emerge from recent challenges with a sense of well-being, joy, resilience and enthusiasm for the next chapter.
