2022 AK Lecture 02: “Advancing Female Fertility Preservation Strategies During Cancer Treatment”
April 26 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT
The Anne Klibanski Visiting Lecture Series was created to support and advance the careers of women. These lectures bring together faculty from institutions that have hosted Anne Klibanski Scholars with MGH scholars, on topics that overlap both research areas.
Upon completion of this activity, participants were able to:
• Identify female cancer patients who may be at risk of treatment-induced ovarian failure and the patient- and treatment-related factors that influence this risk
• Understand the limitations of current fertility preservation approaches and the basic science knowledge gaps that must be addressed to inform future strategies
• Gain an understanding of the role of apoptosis in the ovary in the setting of genotoxic stress such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and the potential role of apoptosis inhibition as a means of ovarian preservation
