Coffee and Conversation is a new monthly series sponsored by the Office for Women’s Careers to create connections among faculty by bringing them together informally to address specific topics of interest and concern.

Bakhos Tannous, PhD, discussed challenges in obtaining external funding as well as grant writing tips for a successful grant application. He focused on the NIH/DOD grant format including specific aims, significance, innovation, approach, budget, and collaborators.

Facilitator: Bakhos Tannous, PhD, is the Director of the Postdoctoral Division of the Center for Faculty Development. Dr. Tannous is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Experimental Therapeutics Unit at Mass General Hospital. He is a member of the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and acts as Co-Director of the Molecular Neurogenetics Unit-East and Director of the Mass General Viral Vector Production Facility. He is the recipient of multiple prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Mentor Award from the Department of Neurology and Mentor of the Year from the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center for his commitment in training underrepresented/underprivileged students. Dr. Bakhos is a member of many national and international committees including Neurology Research Council and Committee of Fundamental Research at Mass General.
