Fun Fridays: Journaling with Olga – Catching Fireflies
March 24 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT
Fun Fridays offer a refreshing mid-day break from work to indulge in physical, mental, or creative activity.
Olga provided a fun hour of journaling activities designed to free the participant’s creative spirit and improve self-care through writing. In this session, they practiced writing prompts to learn more about themselves, drawing inspiration from Joe Brainard’s “I Remember” memoir. Memories are like fireflies flickering in the dark; only the brightest ones are noticed.
Playwright Tennessee Williams once asked: “Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by so quick you hardly catch it going?” This was a cathartic writing session. Journaling is a private art form, and sharing was optional.
Instructor: Olga Katsovskiy, MHA, is a Program Manager in the Endocrine Unit at MGH. In addition, she is a Writing Instructor at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. She enjoys reading and writing nonfiction, and is devoted to daily journaling, obscure books, and good coffee.
