HMS- Project Management Strategies for the Researcher

This live, online learning series will demonstrate how to troubleshoot, forecast, and problem solve using project management in various contexts. Each of the four independent sessions will be led by certified project management professional, David Vincenti. This series will identify the principles of project management and how to apply various templates and skills to your own work and experiences.
Session dates:
Session 1: Defining the Work – Tuesday June 8, 2021 at 12:00pm EST
This session introduces basic project management principles. You will learn the definition of a project, how to manage project scope, and how to draft the baseline of a project.
Session 2: Creating the Plan – Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 12:00pm EST
In this session, you will learn and apply terms for planning a project, understand how to break a project into manageable parts, sequence tasks, and time management.
Session 3: Finalizing the Plan – Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 12:00pm EST
In this session, you will explore PM principles further by calculating risks, managing a process, reviewing a project plan, and forecasting the execution and completion of a project.
Session 4: Panel Discussion – Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 12:00pm EST
This session features a panel discussion with three successful project management practitioners. The panelists will discuss their experiences in clinical, basic scientist, and community/population health research communities.
