LDP 1: Leadership in Research (closed)

Session closed to LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (LDP) FOR RESEARCHERS selected participants only.

In the first hour, Dr. Slaugenhaupt will share the importance of getting training in Leadership. She will discuss her career path to leadership and provide some practical advice that has helped her in this journey. In the second part, Professor Shapiro will discuss how to communicate effectively across different personality styles. Participants will recognize the value that diverse styles bring to a relationship or a team.

Facilitators:
Susan A. Slaugenhaupt, PhD, Professor of Neurology, HMS; Scientific Director, Mass General Research Institute (MGRI); and Investigator in the Center for Genomic Medicine
Dr. Slaugenhaupt spearheads several programs and educational initiatives at MGH, including a thriving undergraduate summer internship program. Her MGRI team works to promote science at MGH and the research community.

Mary Shapiro, MBA, MS, Professor of Practice, Simmons University School of Business
For more than 30 years, Professor Shapiro has served as an Organization Behavior faculty at Simmons University. She specializes in four areas: team building, leadership across multiple social identities, influential communication, and career strategies for both individuals and organizations.
