OWC Annual Spring Lecture – Closing the Gender Pay Gap in Medicine: Identifying Drivers of Inequity and Devising Solutions
May 5, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT

This lecture is in collaboration with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Office for Women’s Careers.
Women physicians earn 72 cents on the dollar compared with their male colleagues. While much has been written about the problem of gender pay disparities in medicine, a robust discussion about how to rectify the situation has been missing from the conversation.
Dr. Amy Gottlieb, Editor of Closing the Gender Pay Gap in Medicine: A Roadmap for Healthcare Organizations and the Women Physicians Who Work for Them, will discuss how cultural expectations and traditional compensation methodologies in medicine work together to perpetuate the gender pay gap. She will also offer strategies for creating new approaches that better account for the unique contributions of women and the biases facing them.
Speaker: Amy S. Gottlieb, MD, FACP, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs; Professor of Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology; UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate; and Chief Faculty Development Officer, Baystate Health
