Workshop Series for Clinical Educators

This 4-part interprofessional workshop series is sponsored by the MGH Office of Clinical Careers and the Peter L. Slavin, MD Academy for Applied Learning in Health Care to support clinical educators.

  • Providing Effective Feedback
    • Tuesday, March 19 from 12-1pm

      • Prioritize learner development as the core focus of all feedback interactions.

  • Creating a Safe Clinical Learning Environment

      • Describe the benefits of creating psychological safety in the clinical learning environment.
      • Define foundational requirements for psychological safety.
      • Describe the internal work of the teacher in preparing for an optimal teaching encounter which facilitates psychological safety.
      • Demonstrate strategies to improve psychological safety in the clinical learning environment.

 

  • Teaching Under Pressure: Trying to Teach While Improving Your Happiness
    • Thursday, May 23 from 12-1pm

      • Review learning theories that cement efficient teaching.
      • Discuss pressures that inhibit clinical teaching.

  • Teaching Clinical Reasoning
    • Wednesday, June 12 from 12-1pm
    • Margaret Chapman, MD and Kate McElhiney, PA-C
    • Learning objectives
      Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

      • Define the key common clinical reasoning skills.
      • Practice utilizing common clinical reasoning topics within your clinical setting.
      • Incorporate one clinical reasoning teaching skill into your educational practice.

Target Audience: This activity is intended for faculty and faculty trainees.
